Workin' the Graveyard

Well God certainly blesses us in unexpected ways. I needed a second job and didn't want to give up time in my ministry or time with my wife... so... God provided. I am now the Graveyard Dispatcher at Barstow towing. Since I told God that I didn't want to give up time with my wife... He told me I could work while she sleeps! lol. What a humorous God we serve. It is a great provision. Two nights a week from 11pm to 7am. We can still have date night on Friday and I don't have to give up ministry time. Thank God for his provisions... no matter how strange or unexpected. It will be tough to get used to... But God will help and provide energy. Did I mention I get off work just in time to go to class in Victorville? Ha ha ha! This will be an adventure. But I am very excited for this strange blessing!

"That Would Happen to You"

"That would happen to you." These were my wife's exact words when I called her from State Line, Nevada to tell her I just got 4 free tickets to a Trace Adkins concert for that night. Em was at a bridal shower and bachelorette party for one of my cousins. My Dad, Brother, Jason Reeves, and I decided to drive to State Line for dinner and a fun little road trip. While we were in line for the buffet I heard my name being called. I turned around to see an old friend from CBU, Kristal Gasca, standing there. She asked if we were there for the Trace Adkins cancert and asked if we wanted free tickets. The tickets should have cost $65... but we got them for free! We were in the front row of the bleachers and we had a great time. When I got home I told Em all about it and in a somewhat jealous, yet loving, tone she told me, "You guys are so lucky... that would never happen to me." Even though it was awesome, it would have been even better if she was there with me.

New bed!

So, Grant and I have been wanting a bigger bed for some time now.  A queen is great, however, when it is what I'm used to all by myself, you can imagine that I did some major bed-hogging!  :)  Some friends of ours were moving and selling their Cal-King bed, so we jumped at the opportunity!  We picked out new bedding and Grant was going to pick it up while I was at school.  A few days a week we drive to Victorville together.  Grant drops me off at school, goes to his classes, and then picks me up.  He always has some time to kill, so he said he would pick up the bed stuff while he was waiting for me to get done with school for the day.  Well, Grant did a great job getting the bedding and lots and LOTS of king size pillows. Bu I think that we both forgot that we were driving the truck that day.  So, I walk out to the parking lot to see Grant standing outside the passenger side of the truck with a funny look on his face.  When I looked inside the truck, I understood why.  There was absolutely NO room for me in there.  Pillows and bed stuff were EVERYWHERE!  We didn't want to put it in the bed of the truck because we were nervous itwas too light and would fly out.  So, we devised a plan.  I ended up sitting on 2 pillows, and Grant packed me in for the ride home.  Needless to say, if we had gotten in an accident, I wouldn't have gone anywhere!

It was a very interesting car ride, needless to say, but worth it!  We LOVE our new bed and no longer have space problems! :)

Our Wedding

On Saturday, Grant and I went to yet another wedding.  It was a lot of fun, and also a time for us to reflect on our own marriage.  I really can't believe that it's already been 7 months!  The best 7 months of our lives!  As happy as we were on our wedding day, I can honestly say that we are happier now.  And as much as we loved each other on that day, we love each other more now.  I am so blessed to have married such a loving man!  Here are a few pictures of our special day....

Las Vegas

So we just got home from Las Vegas. We had a blast. Of course, the morning we were supposed to leave for our trip, I woke up with a cold. But we had looked forward to this trip for so long that I was not going to let a cold slow us down. Being in Vegas, we had to eat at a buffet. So we went to the buffet at our hotel, the Hilton, and they had some raw oysters so I thought I would give them a try. They were the nastiest tasting things in the whole world. So after we had our fill of crab legs and baked potatoes we went and played in the casino a little bit. We stick to penny machines and never more than twenty dollars. We know we will probably lose but we have fun with it. So after playing a little bit we decided to call it a night and head back to our room. A little later we decided to get some snacks, little did we know that in Vegas a bag of chips and a soda cost ten dollars. After getting some sleep, the next morning we got to have room service bring us breakfast in bed and we got to give each other our first married valentine's cards. after relaxing in the room a little bit, we got ready for the day and decided to walk around the strip a little bit. First we went to Sahara then to Treasure Island, Palazo, and the Wynn. After checking out a couple really nice hotels, we went to this huge mall and bought nothing and then went to dinner with my family and came home. It was an awesome trip with tons of memories. It was a much needed break from "real life" to just relax and have some us time. It was great.

Twenty Four

I want to thank the hit Fox show, "24." Without it, I would not have a wife... or half of my friends for that matter! lol!

Campfires!

I love my wife! One of our favorite things to do sit around a warm campfire, roast some marshmallows, and talk about anything in the world. Campfires have definitely played a huge role in our relationship and that is why we love them so much! The only thing better than the campfire is the knowledge that we have the rest of our lives to share countless future campfires!

What have we been up to?

Wow. I can't believe we have already been married for six months! We have seen a lot of life in what seems like a few short months. First of all, Marriage is absolutely amazing. We have learned to live, laugh, cry, and try new things through each other.

Em has been enjoying her third year teaching at West Creek Elementary School. This year she took on the challenge of teaching forth grade. So far she has been very blessed to be with those students. She loves teaching and I love supporting her in that.

I was hired as the Student Ministries Pastor at First Baptist Church in Barstow, CA. I love working at the church. God has blessed us with an amazing group of students. Besides working at the church, I have been subbing in Barstow and going to school in Victorville. Life has been very busy, but God has blessed me with a wife who is more than willing to go above and beyond her busy schedule to help me with mine.

Besides our busy career life, we do manage to have fun too. We have been all over the state and even to Vegas on various short trips. We love Disneyland, and it is even better after you are married! We have gone camping in the world's smallest tent... and loved it!

We have even added a new member to our little family. His name is max and he is one of the sweetest dog's in the world. He is definitely a puppy and all boy! He digs in the yard, jumps up on us (getting mud everywhere), and wrestles with me, but we can't help but love him!

We definitely have struggled with living so far away our friends. We definitely have enjoyed the times we have been able to see our friends and we love making new friends in Barstow. God continues to bless us with very special people to encourage us along our journey called marriage.
